Ms. Carden is excited for her first year as gifted specialist for Talladega City Schools. She is an "army brat" who lived all over the world with her family during her childhood while her dad was an army lawyer but both of her parents are from Alabama. She has an undergraduate degree in psychology and completed four masters degree programs (school psychometry, human development and family studies, early childhood special education, and gifted education) from the University of Alabama. She was a special education teacher for 6 1/2 years in Tuscaloosa and a general education teacher for 1 1/2 years in Tuscaloosa and in North Carolina. She has an AA from an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program and prior to coming to Talladega City Schools, she was a certified pediatric OTA. She is a certified teacher in gifted and special education and was a certified child life specialist in hospitals as well. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her son and daughter-in-law as well as parents and brother. She considers herself an animal lover and volunteer transports dogs most weekends. She loves all kinds of arts and crafts, shopping, and traveling. She enjoys reading and watching food network. Finally, she loves “her kids” and “her families” who she has the honor to teach and work with.
